Free homeschool curriculum options make it possible for any family to provide a quality education at home.

Before my children were born, I decided that I would homeschool them. Naturally, I faced a lot of opposition in my choice, but I realized it was just that – MY choice. Immediately after the birth of my first child, I started to research homeschool programs. I was shocked to see just how much this particular educational choice would end up costing us. Then, I overheard a casual conversation regarding a homeschool program that a coworker used with her children while on a break at work. This homeschool program was not a traditional homeschool curriculum, but I liked the concept. It was actually referred to as “public virtual school”. The program was offered by The Connections Academy.

I researched The Connections Academy online, and found that it combined all of the positive elements of a public school education, but did it in the distance learning fashion. This school allows parents to educate their child at home, receive support from professionally trained faculty and staff members, without the heavy costs associated with traditional homeschool curriculums. Students that attend this school can engage from as young as kindergarten all the way up to 12th grade! Not only is the curriculum appropriately gauged according to each State’s educational requirements, but parents may implement their own lesson plans into the system.

If you are interested in educating your child at home, but cannot afford the traditional homeschool programs, you will be pleased to hear that there is absolutely no tuition costs whatsoever associated with this program offered by The Connections Academy. The program is funded by the Federal Government. Many individuals may fear that attending the program is based on income. However, this is not true. The exception is when your income exceeds $100,000.00 a year. However, most us do not need to worry about this issue.

If you want to educate your child from home – for FREE, The Connections Academy is the way to go. Not only do you not have to pay for the cost of tuition, but you can also receive the following for free:

  • A laptop or desktop computer for your child to use while participating in the program, as well as a printer – if you qualify, you can receive printer ink at no charge throughout the year as well
  • An internet subsidy check that is sent to you approximately every three to four months to help cover the expense of internet access
  • The entire curriculum, which includes: textbooks, CD’s, workbooks, and more!
  • A detailed online learning management system which outlines lesson plans, activities, and special educational resources
  • Free access to educational websites like United Streaming, World Book Online, and Brain Pop

Is it really possible to homeschool my child for free?

Yes—through publicly-funded virtual schools (sometimes called online public schools), you can educate your child at home without paying for a curriculum. These programs are funded by the government and are typically available to most families regardless of income. They cover kindergarten through 12th grade and are aligned to each state’s educational requirements.

What does a free virtual public school provide for homeschooling families?

Programs like this can provide your child with a laptop or desktop computer (if you qualify), a printer, an internet subsidy check to help cover connection costs, and the full curriculum—including textbooks, workbooks, and CDs. Access to online educational resources is also included as part of the program.

How is an online public school different from traditional homeschooling?

In traditional homeschooling, parents choose and purchase their own curriculum and handle all instruction themselves. A virtual public school is government-funded and structured more like a public school—there are trained teachers available for support, the curriculum follows state standards, and parents can often supplement with their own lesson plans on top of it.
