History & Origin
Takiesha is an American coinage joining the Ta- prefix to Kiesha, a spelling of Keisha, one of the defining girls' names of 1970s Black America. The whole Keisha family multiplied that decade, each prefix a personal touch. Takiesha first appears in United States birth records around 1974 and touched a small high around 1978.
It was never common, given to only a couple dozen girls a year even at its peak, and faded by the mid-1990s. A Takiesha from that high would be nearing fifty now.
