How to Pronounce Rayetta
Pronounced ray-ET-ah /reɪˈɛtə/High
Meaning: Rayetta is a coined American name that dresses Ray in the diminutive-feminine suffix -etta, on the model of Loretta, Henrietta and Rosetta. Ray itself began as a short form of Raymond, from Germanic elements meaning 'counsel' and 'protection', and also stands alone as an English word for a beam of light. Rayetta thus reads either as a feminine of Ray or, more loosely, as a sunny 'little ray'.Low

History & Origin
Rayetta is a twentieth-century American coinage, built by adding the ornamental -etta ending to Ray. The suffix, borrowed from Italian and French diminutives, was fashionable for feminizing plain roots, and Rayetta is one such invention.
It never became common, given to only a couple dozen girls a year at its mid-century high and largely gone by the 1990s. A Rayetta from that time would be a grandmother today, and the name carries the frilly, homemade charm typical of its -etta cousins.
