History & Origin

Kharlie gives the well-worn nickname Charlie a fresh look, opening with Kh- and closing on the -lie ending popular for girls. Charlie and Karlie both grow from Charles and Charlotte, whose shared Germanic root Karl means 'free man' or simply 'man.' As a stand-alone girl's name Charlie became fashionable in the twenty-first century, and respellings such as Kharlie let parents keep the warmth while adding a personal twist.
