History & Origin
Haelee is a creative spelling of Hailey or Haylee, from the Old English elements heg, 'hay,' and leah, 'meadow or clearing,' so 'hay meadow.' Hailey became enormously popular in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries, and its success bred dozens of spellings; Haelee is one of the rarer decorative forms, its meaning unchanged.
The spelling was always rare, given to only about a dozen and a half girls a year at its peak around 2006, far below the standard Hailey. A girl named Haelee then is still in her teens today.
