History & Origin

Briann is a variant of Brianne and Briana, feminine forms of Brian, an Irish name usually glossed as 'noble', 'high' or 'strong'. The whole Briana family surged in the nineteen-eighties and nineties, and trimmed spellings like Briann appeared alongside; Briann shows up in United States records from the late nineteen-seventies.

It reached its high point in 1996 and eased through the two-thousands while staying in light use into the twenty-twenties.
