Editorial Reviews:
Play as Pikachu and interact with many Pokémon! Players guide Pikachu through the adventure to save the PokéPark! You can meet many other Pokémon who appear in the game and talk to them. Characters in PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure speak with the same voices from the Pokémon animated TV series and movies! Much of the appeal of PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure is seeing the Pokémon interact with and speak to each other. There is a great variety of Pokémon for Pikachu to become friends with!

PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure is a single player action-adventure game for Wii set in the ever-popular Pokémon game universe. An entirely new take on Pokémon gameplay, players take on the role of Pikachu as he explores the gameworld in search of the means to save PokéPark. Along the way he will compete with other Pokémon in various competitions, activities and some battles, through which he accumulates friends who will help him in his quest and upgrades his own special skills. Additional functionality includes: special motion controls using the Wii Remote or Wii Remote Plus controller, an in-game economy and the ability to save in-game images to a user-supplied SD memory card.

Help Pikachu Save the PokéPark

The first Pokémon adventure game on the Wii console, PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure puts Pikachu at the center of a fun, expansive playground filled with adventure, attractions and of course, Pokémon. The Rare Pokémon, Mew, summons Pikachu to the PokéPark to find the missing Sky Prism pieces. The gameworld in this adventure is expansive and filled with other Pokémon. Some of these Pokémon are willing to help, while others may need some convincing. Either way, they may hold the key to finding the missing pieces of the Sky Prism. It's up to Pikachu do what he needs to in order to save the day.

Unlike traditional Pokémon games, which generally trend toward RPG style gameplay facilitated by arena battles with multiplayer options, PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure is a single player action-adventure whose progress is mostly tied to mini-game play. Playing as the iconic Pokémon, Pikachu, the goal is to save PokéPark by finding shards of an object know as the "Sky Prism." These are hidden throughout the 14 themed zones that make up the gameworld, which Pikachu enters and searches with the aid of other Pokémon encountered. To get this aid Pikachu must make friends with these Pokémon. This is sometimes tied to combat, but is generally achieved by besting Pokémon in one of many mini-game style competitions, categorized as either attractions, skill games or cleaning duty. As is always the case in the Pokémon universe, all these Pokémon have different special skills and attributes. This is the point of befriending them, since once befriended players can utilize any Pokémon in mini-game play. Players can also upgrade certain skills by cashing in berries hidden throughout the game that serve as currency. Finally, players can utilize in-game photo functionality to capture moments from the game which can then be saved via Wii SD memory card functionality.

Key Game Features

  • Playing as Pikachu, players start their adventure at the PokéPark and play a variety of attractions that are found in each game zone
  • Interact with and befriend Pokémon by defeating them in these skill games, after which they can serve as stand-ins for Pikachu in certain attractions
  • 14 themed game levels including: Meadow Zone, Lava Zone, Haunted Zone and others
  • Players can compete in challenges multiple times to try and beat their high score, adding to the game's replay value
  • Players use the Wii Remote controller turned sideways to navigate through the PokéPark, while different motion controls are used in the various attractions and skill games
  • Players can take photos of their favorite Pokémon in the game and save them to an SD Card (sold separately)
  • In-game economy based on berries hidden throughout the game which can be cashed in for upgrades in certain situations
