Here’s a question I’ve been struggling with lately: How many chores do you give your children, and are they paid or unpaid? Now that my kids are in middle school, I’ve been ramping up how much help I expect around the house. They don’t have to do too much and they generally do it without complaints. I don’t typically pay them for helping me unless it goes above and beyond what’s expected. But some of their friends get paid for everything they do. What do you guys do? Am I being unreasonable to expect them to pitch in? When they get older, no one is going to pay them to clean up after themselves. 🙂
